Saudi Arabia Implements New Exit Visa Regulations for Resident Permit Holders

New Exit Visa Regulations for Resident Permit Holders

Saudi Arabia has recently updated its exit visa regulations for resident permit holders. Now, to apply for a final exit visa, your resident permit (Iqama) must have at least 30 days of validity remaining. If it has less than 30 days, you’ll need to renew it before applying. For permits valid between 30 and 60 days, the exit visa will match the remaining validity period. Permits with more than 60 days’ validity will receive an exit visa valid for 60 days.

Key Points

  • Resident Permit Validity Requirements

    • Less than 30 days: Renewal is mandatory before applying for an exit visa.
    • Between 30 and 60 days: The final exit visa will be issued for the remaining validity period of the resident permit.
    • 60 days or more: A final exit visa with a duration of 60 days will be issued.
  • Exemptions

    • Premium resident permits are not subject to these exit visa requirements.

Implications for Employers and Expatriates

Employers and expatriates must proactively manage resident permit renewals to ensure compliance with the new regulations. Failure to do so may result in the inability to obtain an exit visa, potentially leading to legal complications and delays in departure plans. Monitoring resident permit validity closely and initiating renewals well before the 30-day threshold is essential.
